Established 2013, Dezzie D and the Stingrayz is a modern band that taps into the vintage rhythm & blues sounds of the 1950's and 1960's, blending classic R&B, Americana, Swing, Soul, Jazz and Rock n Roll infuences with a fresh twist.
Their music often evokes the energy and style of that era, think of the raw, infectious grooves of artist such as Etta James, Ruth Brown, and Solomon Burke, but with a contemporary energy. The band's sound is built on tight rhythms, brass section hooks, and strong lead vocals, with a nod to the doo-wop and jump blues traditions. Dezzie D and the Stingrayz are known for capturing the essence of 50's and 60's R&B while adding a modern fair through their performances.
The music often combines lively, dance-able rhythms with a rich, soulful vocal delivery.
